It was looking so good for Craig’s fifth and final outing as James Bond.
Trainspotting director and screenwriter, Boyle and Hodge, were set to bring in a modern-Cold War era thriller to see the actor’s incarnation out.
However in the last 48 hours Boyle has quit over a casting disagreement, allegedly over the villain, with Craig and producers.
And now Bond 25 has lost its screenwriter too.
According to the Mirror, a spokeswoman for Hodge revealed: “No, he’s not working on it.”
Allegedly the 54-year-old was concerned Bond 25 would be delayed at least a year.
Originally the film was – and still technically is – set to start shooting at Pinewood Studios on December 3, to meet an October 2019 cinematic release.
However with Bond 25 now lacking a director and screenwriter, it seems very likely a delay until 2020 will soon be announced.
Of course such big changes and a deal may be too much for Craig and he could decide to walk.
If such a case occurred presumably EON productions would delay and make Bond 25 the reboot with a new actor.
Enter Idris Elba directed by Christopher Nolan perhaps?
Bond 25 is for a UK release on October 25, 2019, but may get delayed.
