The 2018/19 Premier League season is approaching the end of its opening month, and there are some surprise names leading the top scorers chart so far.
Every team – barring Manchester United and Tottenham – has enjoyed three games of the season, and early stars are already beginning to rise.
But while several players have stood above the crowd, fans are still waiting to see Mohamed Salah and Harry Kane kick into top gear.
They’ve both opened their account with a goal apiece this season, but they’ll each be hoping to add another 30 to that figure before the end of May.
Aleksandar Mitrovic is among the five players currently taking the league by storm, with the Fulham man netting three times in as many games for the Premier League new boys.
The former Newcastle maverick scored a quickfire double in the first half of a 4-2 victory over Burnley at Craven Cottage this weekend.
Mitrovic will be determined to keep up his red-hot streak dating back to his loan spell in the Championship with Fulham when he netted 12 times in 17 games.
He remains on par with Manchester City icon Sergio Aguero who bagged all three of his goals in one dominant display against Huddersfield at the Etihad.
Aguero has also crashed shots against the woodwork this season, proving he’s in the mood to contend with the very best once again this season.
The Argentine striker was hailed by Alan Shearer as the best foreign player in the history of the Premier League after his fearsome performance against the Terriers.
He has moved up to 10th in the list of all-time Premier League goalscorers with 146 goals after leapfrogging ex-Arsenal and United star Robin van Persie.
