Meghan Markle’s secret trip abroad without Prince Harry travelling by this method

Meghan Markle, 37, recently travelled abroad on a secret trip without her new husband Prince Harry.

The new royal headed to Toronto in Canada, where she used to live while filming TV series Suits.

She joined her best friend Jessica Mulroney, according to ABCNews, as well as her three children, who were all spotted at the royal wedding.

However, Meghan decided to travel in a way many might not expect for a member of the Royal Family.

The Duchess of Sussex chose to travel by commercial plane by herself, using airline Air Canada.

It was a departure from her recent trips abroad where she used a private jet, such as her trip to Dublin.

According to ABC, Meghan stayed three days at her best friend’s home, “playing with Jessica’s children, who love their ‘Auntie Meg’”.

Royal Family members are allowed to take personal trips, however, they are not allowed to use private planes for the journeys.

They often choose to fly commercial if they are not an official work trip.

It isn’t the first time the royal has been seen on a commercial airline since joining the Royal Family.

Meghan and Harry chose to fly by British Airways earlier this year when travelling to Nice, much to the surprise of other passengers.

Many of the young royals have been spotted on budget airlines when travelling abroad.

Kate Middleton was spotted on a British Airways flight when taking her first solo trip abroad to the Netherlands.

The Duchess has a link to the airline, as her parents both worked for British Airways when she was a child.

Prince William and Prince Harry have both been spotted on airlines such as Flybe and Ryanair before.

Prince Charles often chooses to travel privately by plane or train instead of commercial flights.

Even Queen Elizabeth has travelled by British Airways during her reign when she attended state visits.

The Royal Family have a strict travel budget which is funded by taxpayers, meaning only work trips are covered.

In 2016/2017, travel costs hit £4.5 million for the Royal Family.
