Dolly Parton musical 9 to 5 casts Strictly Come Dancing and Love Island stars for West End

Louise Redknapp is the big-name signing: the hugely successful recording artist who has recently had a solo career revival with a string of well-received live shows.

She became a finalist on Strictly Come Dancing back in 2016, while her new co-star Brian Conley took part last year.

Joining them will be Love Island winner Amber Davies in her West End debut, and West End royalty Natalie McQueen – recently seen in Kinky Boots.

Redknapp has the leading role of Violet Newstand – the part Parton herself played in the film from which the stage show takes its cues.

The show has toured the UK before – between 2012 and 2013 – but never been on the West End.

Its Broadway production ran in 2009 and saw Allison Janney giving a Tony-nominated turn in the main role.

The story follows three work friends whose egotistical and sexist boss makes them so miserable they decide to kidnap him and take control of the business.

But things soon descend into farce when the company’s CEO turns up…

Redknapp has previously starred in the Cabaret tour; playing the lead role of Sally Bowles.

She tweeted today: “So looks like these guys are going to be my partners in crime next year @RealBrianConley @Amber_Davies7 @nataliemcqueen and of course @DollyParton not only am I beyond excited but also can’t wait to get on stage together #9to5musical @9to5MusicalUK.”

Davies posted: “EKKKKK. Super excited to announce…. being a part of @dollyparton’s 9 to 5 Original West End cast is slightly bizarre.

“But I can not wait for this next chapter in my life. dreams come true if you work hard enough.”

Parton herself said on Twitter: “So excited to announce that @9to5MusicalUK is hitting London’s West End!

“It’s inspired by the film and features all original music written by me. Y’all don’t want to miss this!

The score was written by country icon Parton herself; and has already earned her nominations for Oscars, Grammys and Tonys.

9 to 5 is at the Savoy Theatre from January 28 to August 31 2019, with tickets on sale now.
