WATCH: Heart-stopping moment tourist safety rope BREAKS while jumping 500-foot bridge

The video was filmed in Central China at the Wansheng Ordovician Theme Park, home to one of the most dangerous bridges in the world.

Known as “Ji Xian Fei Yue” or “Extreme Leaps”, it is nearly 500 feet above the ground, with large slats for tourists to jump across.

In the video, a tourist is seen waiting on one side while being strapped onto a safety rope.

He then leaps across the large gaps to make it to the other side.

Just as he makes the last jump to safety, the rope falls from his back where it should have been attached.

At first, the tourist is elated after making it to the end, before he realises his rope has detached.

He then grabs the swinging safety rope and looks across the bridge in shock at his near-miss.

With no safety net beneath, a fall would have most certainly been deadly.

Wansheng Ordovician Theme Park said the mistake was due to a staff member as opposed to a fault with the equipment, according to social media website Weibo.

The bridge attraction is currently closed while the incident is investigated.

If they are found to have broken major safety regulations, the park could be fined.

Thrill-seekers from around the world head to the park as a range of attractions offer terrifying experiences.

A swing with a 1,000-foot drop is popular with many, who are strapped in and then launched over the cliff-edge.

One man tried it for themselves in a video with many cheering him on while watching.

A 390-foot bridge made entirely of glass can also be tried at the park.

However, one of the scariest bridges in the world can also be found in China at the Zhangjiajie canyon.

It is both the highest and longest glass-bottomed bridge in the world.

After opening earlier this year, officials took a sledgehammer to the glass to show how strong it is.

Only 8,000 people are allowed to walk along it a day.
