OnePlus 6T is officially the name of the successor to the OnePlus 6.
That is because the Chinese tech firm acknowledged its forthcoming Android flagship and has scheduled a launch event taking place in New York City on October 30 that will lift the lid on the product.
Moreover OnePlus have also offered a number of teases about the product on its main Twitter page.
Several pictures of the new device have been shown and are incredibly tantalising.
OnePlus has already confirmed the 6T will arrive with a fingerprint sensor under its display, giving fans a fresh way to unlock the device.
The Chinese firm recently posted an image of four methods that can be used to access the OnePlus 6T.
A traditional PIN can be used in addition to pattern.
However, OnePlus’ face unlock technology will also return on the 6T in addition to a new “screen unlock” function.
The manufacturer has also disclosed the OnePlus 6T will arrive without a headphone jack.
Such a decision will surely be divisive for fans that are not fully invested in Bluetooth technology.
Sitting down with TechRadar, OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei emphasised how difficult it was to make such a decision.
However, he declared forgoing the jack would bring added benefits, such as improved battery life.
Pei said: “It was a very controversial decision. We’re not doing it for the sake of doing it and because everyone else is.
“We believe now is the right time, as it’ll benefit the majority of our users while keeping the downside low.
“By removing the jack we’ve freed up more space, allowing us to put more new technology into the product.
“One of the big things is something our users have asked us for, improved battery life.”
Pei confirmed the OnePlus 6T will include a headphone adapter in the box and also explained the firm is working on a second generation of its Bullets headphones.
He went on: “We’re adding an adapter to the box, allowing you to use your 3.5mm headphones normally.
“We’re also making a new version of our Bullets V2 wired headphones, which will have a USB-C connector.”
The OnePlus Bullets Wireless debuted alongside the OnePlus 6 earlier this year.
And now a leak appears to suggest early adopters of the OnePlus 6T could receive the new Bullets V2 USB-C headphones for free.
However, it is currently unknown if a similar offer will be present in other territories.
Amazon’s UK site does not currently feature a OnePlus 6T pre-order page in the same way its Indian version does.
The Amazon listing also states the OnePlus 6T will come equipped with a “bigger battery” and will be powered by a Snapdragon 845.
OnePlus 6T is mere weeks away from being fully unveiled in New York City and Express.co.uk will be bringing you coverage of all the announcements live.
