Remember how this summer was?

England were still in the World Cup, Love Island was still on our screens and summer cocktails were flying off the shelves as Brits braved one of the longest heatwaves on record

Now, just three months later, it looks like the weather is already taking a turn for the worst.

According to The Met Office, we can expect not only snow by the end of the month, but a four month polar vortex.

Temperatures could drop to below zero by the end of this month, spiralling us into a four-month snow storm.

Heavy snowfall is also on the cards as temperatures begin to plunge below zero across the UK.

The colder weather could reportedly last until the end of February.

And it looks like Scotland, northern and central England are most at risk of getting hit by the latest bout of bad weather.

Speaking to the Express, Piers Corbyn of WeatherAction said: “We are expecting some quite severe snowfall before the end of this month and it will not just be confined to the far north, this could reach parts of the midlands or even further south.

“This spell of very cold weather looks like bringing substantial snow to a more widespread area of the country than people would necessarily expect at this time of year.”

Piers also claims a white Christmas could be on the cards this year, with “a number of significant snowy spells” predicted to take place towards the end of the year.

Looks like it’s time to bring out the winter coats again…
