What Car? has revealed its shortlist for the 61 new cars vying to take the crown of 2019 Car of the Year.
There is a diverse mix of cars on the list from luxury sports cars such as the Aston Martin Vantage to uber practical cars like the Citroen Berlingo.
The judging panel considers a number of factors such as road and track performance, practicality, equipment, running costs and a True MPG score.
Steve Huntingford, editor of What Car?, said: “The shortlist is bigger than ever in 2019, thanks to the huge number of outstanding models launched across a wide range of categories.
“This makes the job of choosing our Car of the Year more difficult, but it also means new car buyers are spoilt for choice.”
The winner of the ward will be announced on January 22nd 2019.
There are a number of other category specific awards to be handed out. The categories being judged at the awards ceremony include
City car, Small car, Family car, Small SUV, Family SUV, Large SUV, Luxury SUV, MPV, Estate car, Hot hatch, Sports car, Electric car, Hybrid car, Executive car, Luxury car, True MPG award, Reader award, Car safety award, Car technology award and Car of the Year.
