Suarez was named on the bench by Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde for the Copa del Rey tie with Levante.
But with Barcelona losing 2-0 in the first leg, Valverde turned to Suarez to help change the game.
And in the 83rd minute, Suarez made the impact his manager was looking for.
Dribbling down the right side, Suarez deftly put the ball through the legs of midfielder Coke and ran towards the penalty area.
Levante’s Moses Simon then attempted to tackle Suarez but was unable to win the ball back cleanly.
Now in the penalty area, Suarez checked down the outside of Simon before bringing brought down by Coke.
The referee awarded a penalty and Philippe Coutinho scored from the spot.
Suarez’s appearance could be his last for Barcelona with Arsenal keen on signing the 25-year-old.
Arsenal are only interested in signing Suarez on a loan and are reluctant to pay a fee for him.
But Barcelona have told Arsenal that a fee must be paid for Suarez and a mandatory signing option must be included.
Speaking in his press conference ahead of this weekend’s clash with West Ham, Emery was asked about Suarez and said: “I don’t know his situation now.
“We can only sign players later on. I know the club is working on possibilities of which players can help us with big performances like we need now.”
