The 19-year-old rookie really struggled to get anything going from beyond the arc as he failed to register any of his eight attempts but still finished the night with 17 points, seven rebounds and six assists.
Doncic’s struggles were clear for all to see as the youngster was seen to rip his jersey apart as he left the court for half-time.
After the final buzzer he explained why he did it.
“I was just p***ed,” Doncic said.
“I didn’t play good, for sure, I was frustrated with myself.”
This game saw the return of Mavs guard Dennis Smith Jr, who scored 17 points and grabbed a season-best eight rebounds.
And Doncic was pleased to see Smith Jr back on the court.
“It’s great,” he said.
“I always said we miss him in a lot of ways and we need him back.”
Before the game Kiki VanDeWeghe, Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations confirmed that Doncic had been fined $ 10,000.
The fine was for kicking a basketball into the spectator stands during a game against the Indiana Pacers in January.
The incident occurred after Doncic was given a second technical foul and ejected from the game.
“Yeah, I don’t like it at all,” Doncic said.
“It shouldn’t happen. It’s bad for the team, for the player, bad for everybody. I am glad it’s over.”
Doncic denied he needs a rest following his recent public displays of frustration.
“I don’t need a break, for sure,” he said.
“It’s 82 games so, you are not going to play good in 82 games.
“There are going to come bad games, terrible games, so just got to keep working on.”
Dallas are now 21-26 for the season and are sitting 13th in the Western Conference.
In their next game they will host the Detroit Pistons at the American Airlines Center on Friday.
