But that could all be about to chance when the programme returns to screens.
It’s River Song actress Alex Kingston who has expressed enthusiastic interest in stepping into some sequins.
It came as she and Miranda star Sarah Hadland spoke with Radio Times, as the two of them said they would “love” to sign up but also hinted they had been discouraged from doing something similar in previous years.
Alex echoed Sarah’s sentiments after she said she “really, really” wanted to do it.
“I know, me too,” Alex agreed, with the publication reporting that she had already selected her professional partner in the form of Aljaž Škorjanec.
She added: “I think let’s just do it! Break the mould. Absolutely break the mould. I’m so glad you feel the same way.”
Rumours for the line-up of the upcoming series started back in January.
Chris Evans revealed on The One Show that he had “said yes” to signing up, with other stars tipped for the competition including Alan Carr and Lucy Versamy.
According to Coral bookmakers, Lucy is odds in at 4-5 to be on the 2019 series.
A spokesperson said: ”Lucy has been tipped to appear on the show for a couple of years now but bosses have never quite managed to secure a deal.
“However there’s a really strong feeling that 2019 is going to be the year and we now make it odds on that the popular weather presenter is seeing strutting her stuff on the Strictly dancefloor this winter,”
Today saw Strictly professional AJ Pritchard appear on ITV’s This Morning where one of the presenters made a cheeky joke about Anton Du Beke.
Anton has performed with several celebs who received low-scores in the competition, including Ann Widdecombe and most recently Susannah Constantine, who was eliminated first.
But in 2017 he was partnered with television host Ruth Langsford, who presented the magazine programme today along with husband Eamonn Holmes.
AJ told Eamonn and Ruth he would like to be partnered up with the Queen.
However, Eamonn was quick to say if anyone were to team up with Her Majesty – it would be Anton because he’s got form.
“If the Queen were to sign-up she would be dancing with Anton,” Eamonn joked.
He then added: “He gets all the duffers.”
Strictly Come Dancing is expected to return to BBC One later this year.
