May 2020 could see more news released by parent company Take-Two Interactive on the future of the Grand Theft Auto franchise.
This could mean something for GTA Online, or even future plans, even if that remains a very slim chance.
And while the next update might not extend directly to GTA 6, it will no doubt provide some clues for PS4 and Xbox One gamers.
No official GTA 6 release date has been announced by Rockstar Games, although analysts believe it won’t be available until at least 2021.
There is also some debate over how long the next Grand Theft Auto game has been in development for.
Some reports suggest it has been ongoing for some time, while others have stated that we are still years away from GTA 6 hitting shelves.
Ever way, it appears that we still have quite a lot of time to wait until we start learning about the next Grand Theft Auto.
No big announcement is expected to happen in May 2020, but a few hints could be shared during Take-Two’s upcoming Fiscal Quarter 2020 Results.
It won’t be the most exciting event for fans to track and it probably won’t feature much news directly involving GTA 6.
But it will include an update on Grand Theft Auto V and the all-important GTA Online multiplayer mode for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
If Rockstar Games is planning to release more big content drops for GTA Online in 2020, we could get a few hints about it from this report.
Take-Two won’t go into great detail about what is being planned for GTA Online, but they will go so far as to say they have new updates planned for this year.
And that should give us a rough idea of whether or not to expect anything big to be announced in 2020, like a GTA 6 release date.
As mentioned above, Take-Two is expected to confirm that GTA Online will continue throughout the coming months.
However, If Take-Two does surprise everyone and announces its plans to pull back from GTA Online content creation, this would no doubt affect the company’s bottom line.
It would also suggest that something new was being planned for the franchise in the coming months.
There may also be a few hints about what new games are being planned from the likes of Rockstar Games and 2K, although it will only cover the barest of details.
The event is being held on May 20, meaning gamers won’t have to wait long to find out the latest.
A message on the Take-Two website adds: “Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTWO) today announced that it plans to report financial results for its fourth quarter and fiscal year 2020 ended March 31, 2020, after the market close on Wednesday, May 20, 2020.

Here’s an example of what was talked about during the company’s February meeting, with Strauss Zelnick, Chairman and CEO of Take-Two stating:
“Throughout the 2019 holiday season, we experienced robust demand for our offerings that drove third quarter operating results solidly within our increased outlook,”
“Highlights included the performance of Grand Theft Auto Online and Grand Theft Auto V, NBA 2K20, Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Online, The Outer Worlds and Borderlands 3, reflecting our ability to deliver some of the most captivating experiences in the entertainment industry. Fiscal 2020 is shaping up to be another terrific year for Take-Two.
“Take-Two’s development pipeline over the coming years is the largest and most diverse in our history, including releases from our largest franchises, new IP and a broad mix of gameplay experiences, all designed to captivate and engage audiences well beyond initial release.
“In addition, we are actively investing in emerging markets, platforms and business models that have the potential to enhance growth. Take-Two is exceedingly well positioned to capitalize on the many positive trends in our industry and to generate growth and margin expansion over the long-term.”
