“It wasn’t like a man and woman, it was like two stars hanging out and having fun.
“I just happened to be a woman and he happened to be a man.”
Sir Tom’s publicist, Chris Hutchins, claimed the pair were “very attracted to each other” during their near-two-year affair.

In the 2002 documentary The Real Tom Jones, Mr Hutchins recalled Linda telling him she was “going to kill her” – referring to Wilson.
The publicist tipped-off Sir Tom that she was coming down and while he thought he had “removed all traces of her” – he forgot one thing.
Inside the oven was an “impressive” meal, which the singer claimed was made by Chris Ellis, his road manager.

The Supremes star claimed she was “in love” with the singer and recalled them breaking up.
Wilson said: “I was in love with Tom Jones, I will say that, I cannot not say that because it is very true.
“But you know after a while I realised that he was a married man and I needed not to be involved.

She claimed to have been “devastated” for years after the break-up because he was “one of the loves of my life”.
Wilson claimed she would not have allowed Sir Tom to cheat on her if they had been together in a relationship.
She described Linda as “a really strong woman” to have “stayed married to him” for all those years.
Wilson said: “I wouldn’t have put up with it. If that would have been me I wouldn’t have put up with it.”

He said: “It’s out of the question, so whatever has happened has always been causal.
“The only real thing is my marriage and as long as we can both hold it together, as long as my wife can put up with me, I know I’ll be there.
“I wouldn’t want it any other way.”
