With more of us straying away from chemical cleaners, more natural solutions like white vinegar, baking soda and lemon are being chosen when it comes to sprucing up our homes. These products are often inexpensive, easy to find and can achieve sparkling results. These natural products can be used all around our homes, and are rising in popularity.
Cleaning the kitchen can often be a chore, with build-up of food waste, dirty surfaces and baked-on stains.

If you don’t keep on top of your kitchen, this can be a huge task – however cleaning little and often can help combat the grime.

Using cleaners like baking soda and white vinegar can help shift baked-on food stains and stop any bad smells.

Below are six kitchen cleaning jobs you can tackle using just baking soda.

4. Smelly fridges

Often food left in the fridge too long can cause a smell – and this can linger long after you’ve binned the offending items.

Whether its off cheese, out of date yoghurt or off meat, the smells can be hard to stomach.

To combat this, pop a small bowl of baking soda into your fridge and leave to sit.

Baking soda is a natural odour absorber and will get rid of any smells in no time.

5. Drains

As hard as we try, often kitchen sinks can become blocked with food waste or other substances and a blocked sink can wreak havoc.

To tackle any blocked sink, first pouring a kettle of boiling water down the drain.

Next, pour a cup of baking soda and a solution made up of one cup of water/and one cup of white vinegar.

Cover with the drain plug and wait five to 10 minutes before pouring boiling water down the drain again.

This should remove any blockages and stop any bad smells.

6. Ovens

Much like stovetops, the inside of your oven will build up food debris, burnt bits and baked on waste over time.

Whether your pizza has dripped cheese all over the bottom of your oven, you’ve had a cake disaster or have dropped some sauce – you can use baking soda to shift them.

Baking soda brand Arm & Hammer have given steps to clean ovens using only baking soda and water.

First, mix half a cup of baking soda with three tablespoons of water.

Then remove the racks from the oven, and using a gloved hand spread the paste over the dirty stains inside the oven.

Let it sit for 15 to 20 minutes, then wipe up the paste and loosened dirt and grease with wet paper towels.

Finally, wipe the inside of the oven with a wet paper towel, you can either use water or a three to one mixture of water and white vinegar.
