Amazon PS5 stock update: ‘huge’ restock coming soon but there could be a catch
Internet giant Amazon will reportedly release thousands of PS5 consoles to buy on its digital storefront before the end of March.

A report from Tech Radar suggests that this latest PlayStation 5 restock could include over 45,000 units, and that’s good news for retailers.

The sheer number should make it possible for at least a few real customers to buy consoles before the bots and scalpers snap them up.

This new Amazon restock has been delayed by several days and there is no solid word on when it will be made available to customers.

The good news is that it should be happening before the end of March; the bad news is that it probably doesn’t include Amazon UK.

As many shoppers will already know, Amazon is split into different regional storefronts, with Amazon UK the main hub for customers in the United Kingdom.

And unfortunately for those waiting to buy a console, this new PS5 restock might be limited to other regions.

This will mean waiting a little longer for your chance to buy a PlayStation 5 from Amazon UK and there have been some encouraging updates this week.

According to the latest news from stock tracker accounts, at least one more Amazon UK stock drop is happening during March.

This is expected to happen during the week of March 29, meaning that UK customers might have to wait longer than others.

Reliable stock tracker account PS5 Instant, posted this latest update on Twitter earlier this week, telling console hunters:

“Due to recent drops, it’s unprofitable to sell a PS5 to CEX! Average prices for a PS5 on eBay have dropped to £550! GAME, John Lewis, Very & ASDA are dropping mid-next week. With Amazon & Argos the week after. Don’t buy from scalpers! We’re close.”

This latest update confirms that scalpers can still make some money from reselling next-gen consoles, which doesn’t bode well for those hoping to buy before the end of March.

However, it also highlights that things are becoming less profitable for resellers, meaning that April and May could see a decline in bot competition during PS5 console sales.

AMAZON UK: Amazon UK runs better under strain but still comes with a few kinks worth mentioning. Having an account set up with your card details is a good start and gamers should also try adding a console to their wishlist before trying to check out.

GAME: Game is a UK retailer that offers the most regular stock updates for PS5 consoles. However, console hunters have been warned to use Guest Checkout, as this option is less likely to crash when completing a purchase.

ARGOS: The Argos website is notorious for crashing and being unable to complete purchases when site traffic is high. Stock trackers suggest using the mobile Argos app and making sure to keep an eye on local store listings. Argos stock has mostly dropped during the early hours, between 3am GMT and 6am GMT.

CURRYS: Currys is another UK retailer that drops PS5 stock in the early hours of the morning and usually uses a queue system. Currys has also started a new programme called Priority Pass, which makes it possible to sign up and have the chance of being randomly selected to buy a PlayStation 5 console from a brick and mortar store.
