Piers also faced criticism from his fellow presenters, including weatherman Alex Beresford who confronted him on the March 9 show.
The presenter then stormed off after Alex’s remarks and later that day it was confirmed he had left the show.
ITV said in a statement: “Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain.
“ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add.”
