HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — We are seeing just about perfect conditions today behind our morning cold front: sunny skies, temps in the 70s, and a healthy breeze. Wind speeds have been running around 15mph sustained with stronger gusts, those winds will weaken once the sun goes down. You’ll want to enjoy the beautiful weather Thursday afternoon and Friday because another round of wet weather returns this weekend.

Stay weather aware by downloading the ABC13 app to have the latest breaking news and weather alerts sent straight to your phone.[1]Are we expecting any severe weather this week?
No, the severe weather will be well to our east centered around Mississippi.

Can you tell me more about the severe weather near Mississippi?
We are expecting a tornado outbreak through parts of the Deep South, including Mississippi, Alabama, and Tennessee.

How is the weekend weather shaping up?
A weak cold front will push through Sunday morning. Ahead of the front, a strong Gulf breeze Saturday will bring back clouds and a small chance for brief showers. The rain chance will spike Sunday morning when the weak front arrives. Showers and thunderstorms are possible, but nothing severe is expected. Both mornings of the weekend will start off with temps in the upper 60s. Saturday will warm into the mid 80s, but Sunday will only reach into the mid 70s because of the clouds, rain and cooler weather arriving with the front.

Are we done with freezes?
All our data says yes, and there are currently no freezes in our 10-day forecast. If you’re wanting to put plants in the ground, you’re more than likely okay to do so. Going back to the late 1800s, there are only 3 years we’ve had a freeze in April.
