Lewis Hamilton contract vow made by Mercedes as Toto Wolff hints when talks will begin

Mercedes boss Toto Wolff has vowed not to let contract negotiations drag on with Lewis Hamilton this season to avoid the sort of delays that led to the Brit being out of a job at one point over the winter, hinting that talks will begin in the summer.
It was one of the wildly anticipated stories over the break, as the world of Formula One waited with baited breath to see when, rather than if, Hamilton would sign a new contract to race in 2021 with Mercedes.

Eventually in February we saw movement from both camps as it was announced he would be staying for another year at the Silver Arrows, with more details revealed in the coming weeks, like Hamilton’s new joint charitable foundation with the mission of supporting greater diversity and inclusion in all its forms in motorsport.

Now, both Hamilton and Mercedes are looking to snatch their eighth respective championships this season, with the Brit looking to surpass Michael Schumacher for titles, and unsurprisingly Wolff is keen on retaining the 36-year-old past 2021.
