Gulf breeze brings back humidity and rain chance for Mother's Day
HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A cold front approaching from the northwest will bring a slight chance for a few showers and an isolated thunderstorm for Mother’s Day.The bulk of the rain will remain in our far northern counties along with a slight chance for a few strong to severe thunderstorms to develop. The primary threats will be wind and hail.

On Mother’s Day the rain chance climbs up to 30%, but it looks like we’ll only get a few showers. Stronger thunderstorms developing along a front in North Texas could roll into our northern counties Sunday evening. Summer-like humidity on Sunday morning will keep lows only in the mid 70s and highs near 90. Like Saturday, it will be breezy from the south at 15-25 mph. Some of the thunderstorms that move into our northern counties could turn severe with high winds, hail, and flooding rains. Those storms should weaken and even fizzle before they reach Houston Sunday night.

How long will the rain chance stick around?
We have rain chances in the forecast through Wednesday of next week. An unsettled weather pattern will develop as the front blowing through Texas on Mother’s Day stalls out near I-10 for Monday and Tuesday. Then on Wednesday the front will get another push south into the Gulf, bringing a final wave of showers and thunderstorms before we dry out and enjoy a few more days of lower humidity.
