A contestant on The Chase has rubbed fans up the wrong way.

James was on the show today alongside Beth, Adebola and Gareth, in an attempt to win as much money as possible in the cash-builder rounds, get past the the Chaser for a go at the final chase – and take home a share of the winnings.

Today’s show saw them face Paul Sinha as The Chaser, and battle it out for the chance to win some cash.

But it was nothing to do with the Sinnerman that had everybody talking on Twitter, reports Birmingham Live.

And Chase viewers weren’t even referencing James’ teammates by the end of the episode.

No, instead, all anybody was talking about was James’ penchant for swaying side to side.

On social media, one Twitter user wrote: “This man is swaying a lot on TV! I’m feeling seasick”.

A second took to Twitter to say: “I think James is a bit confused about the difference between sea and land”.

“Someone tie him to his chair,” joked another.

But it was also James’ choice of Chaser that got fans in a tizz.

After he secured £5,000 in the cash-builder round, it was his turn to face The Chaser.

And as they were unveiled – with the standard good-natured disparaging remark from host Bradley Walsh – James had a chance to think about who he would like to take on.

And when Bradley asked him, he said: “I’ve done a bit of research: apparently Shaun [The Dark Destroyer] loses most often, so maybe taken Shaun on.”

“Really? I haven’t seen that statistic, I have to say. He’s too busy singing and dancing, that’s his problem,” quipped Bradley.

But fans turned on James for that.

One commented: “Slightly enraged that he insulted Shaun. No one is allowed to insult our chasers but us.”

“At least he was honest about why he wanted to face Shaun,” a second replied.

A third commented: “And for flippantly disrespecting Shaun, he gets to face the best Chaser: what an absolute tool. Get him, Paul.”

“We all know it’s true but why he gotta do Shaun like that?” another asked.

And as Paul Sinha sat down in his chair, he smirked and said: “No smile there because you’ve read the statistics.”

The Chase returns to ITV every week day from 5pm, and on catch-up on ITV Hub
