This Morning viewers had just one thing to say to a new dad who called in to the show this morning (Friday).

This Morning, presented by Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond on Friday, were doing their regular Dear Deirdre feature, where callers can give the team a ring for a bit of advice.

Today was an open house, so they were taking calls on a wide range of topics, when ‘Krishnan’ (not his real name) called in.

Dermot said “Let’s go to Krishnan first, my wife is in labour… let’s call it what it is Krishnan, how can YOU stay calm”

Krishnan told viewers and the presenters: “It’s such an exciting time but I’m bouncing off the walls”

Adding his congratulations to the news, Dermot invited Deirdre to to offer her advice, and she said: “I think, a really important thing to remember, Krishnan, is it’s all about her and the baby, not you.

“If you do some very steady breathing, try to breathe out a bit longer than you breathe in – breathe in to a count of four, out to a count of six.

“As Dermot said earlier, stay up the head end.

“Be supportive. It is about her, don’t try and give her advice, don’t try and tell her how to handle this. Just say I’m there for you, I love you, you’re doing brilliantly.”

Alison added: “I’ve got a tip, just be there. You don’t need to even say anything, just having you there is lovely.”

Dermot added: “Drink it all in my friend, it’s the most wonderful, wonderful moment. For both of you, enjoy it.”

Krishnan added: “She said ‘don’t annoy her'”

Adding a bit more, he said: “We’re at home, my wife has gone onto the ball, kind of doing some stretchy things. I’m on the phone for now, we’ve got snacks ready.

“It’s slowly intensifying, a very excting time.”

Alison added: “You sound like you’re doing such a great job.”

But Dermot added: “Good luck, I’m glad you called, but get off the phone.”

But viewers watching at home were all tweeting the same thing at Krishnan – the upshot was that they all agreed with Dermot.

One said: “Yeah great help texting into the tv when you should be concentrating on your wife”

Rob posted: “My missus is in labour. I know, I’ll call #thismorning”

Leanne tweeted: “My wife is in Labour, how can we stay calm?” Erm We?! It’s his wife who is doing the pushing #ThisMorning”

@MissLionHeart said “You rang #ThisMorning just to tell the whole nation that your wife is in labour?”

And @Mysteron_Voice added: “My wife is in labour… who can I call… I know, Deidre on #ThisMorning …”

And finally, Diana shared: “Trust me get off the bloody phone and be with her not talkinh (sic) too deidre”
