SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) – It’s one of the season’s ‘hottest nights.’
Corvettes from throughout the country will be making their way into town for Hot Summer Nite.
“We will be here until about 10:00 p.m. Tuesday, and that is effectively the commencement of the Black Hills Corvette Classic,” said Dave Rowe, assistant chair of the 50th Black Hills Corvette Classic Coordinating Committee.
Over 600 corvettes, exactly like this one, will arrive at the fairgrounds on Tuesday for Hot Summer Nights, and organisers promise plenty of activities.
“We’re going to have some inflatables out, a dozen food trucks, and a beer tent, so there’s going to be plenty to do, and it’s going to be a family vibe, so we encourage folks to come out,” Rowe said.
One of the events scheduled for that evening is the ‘Quick 60.’
“We start from a standing start, travel 60 feet, and then stop for 40 feet. The fastest time wins, and we’re going to name it a money earner, not a tyre burner, “Art Nordstrom, a corvette owner and member of the Sioux Falls Corvette Club, explained.
“It’s enjoyable; if you’re going to watch, come out here; there will be bleachers built up, and you’re going to like what you see.”
The organisers are gearing up for a fun-filled evening.
“We went out and did a few things we wouldn’t typically do, but we believe it’ll be a lot of fun,” Rowe explained.
Hot Summer Nites is a free, public event.
The event is part of the 50th anniversary of the Black Hills Corvette Classic.
