The 2021 Tokyo Olympics begin on Friday, 23 July and run through to Sunday, 8 August.
There is set to be 339 events in 30 different sports, with tennis boasting an all-star field.
Among the top 10 players in the world, Daniil Medvedev, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Alexander Zverev, Andrey Rublev and Matteo Berrettini are all confirmed.
Two-time gold medalist Andy Murray is also set to take part, so whilst Federer’s quality will be missed, the action will be as exciting as ever.
Fans will hope Federer returns to the ATP tour sooner rather than later as he nears the end of his twilight years.
