Based on the research conducted by Cofton Holidays, when comparing the most recent YoY data available (May 20 – May 21), searches for the term ‘dog-friendly holidays’ has increased to 22,200 average monthly searches. The term ‘dog-friendly lodges’ has also seen a sharp rise increasing by 400 percent from 880 searches in 2020 to an impressive 4,400.
The Devon-based holiday park believes that the reason for the sudden interest in these specific getaway requests is due to the number of Brits adopting a dog throughout the pandemic.
Nearly half of Brits (44 percent) got themselves a new pet over the lockdown period and are frantically searching for suitable pet-friendly holiday destinations.
Since the lockdown, 3.2 million UK households bought a pet, including 12 million dogs, three million birds and 1.5 million reptiles.
