Andy Carroll, Newcastle’s head coach after the expiration his contract has been terminated. Steve Bruce confirmed this.
In 2019, the 32-year old returned to Newcastle, scoring just one goal in the Premier League out of a total 37 games.
Bruce announced after Sunday’s friendly loss at York, that Carroll had signed a contract and had his No7 shirt transferred to Joelinton.
When asked by Sky Sports News about Carroll’s future, Bruce stated that Andy believes it’s high time he plays and went to the gym.
“I wish him all the luck, he has done well for my family but I believe he knows he wants to play and have fun in his final years.
Bruce confirmed that the club is working to bring some new players into St James’ Park with just a month remaining before the Premier League season begins.
Further outgoings are expected, including Florian Lejeune, a defender, moving permanently to Alaves after a stint on loan with the Spanish club.
Bruce said, “All the decisions to get a squad of 25 together is what it’s all about now.”
We have irons on the fire for two to three items, and all the work starts.
“Flo Lejeune has been away speaking with Spanish clubs where he was loaned last year, so there might be something.
I am certain there will be some movement. “The transfer market is extremely quiet and it will continue to remain that way. But it will heat up, I’m sure.”
