Avengers: Endgame takes the Official Film Chart top spot
Over the next few years, Marvel is going to be changing the landscape of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Following Avengers Endgame and the season finale of hit Disney Plus TV show Loki (Tom Hiddleston), the MCU will be introducing a new threat aimed at the universe. The latest villain, Kang (Jonathan Majors), will reportedly be used as the next Thanos-like character in the ongoing plot. However, The Witcher star Cavill has reportedly shown interest in joining Marvel for its upcoming films – the likes of which include Avengers 5.

According to SmallScreen, Cavill met with executives from Marvel in their London offices “in the past few weeks”.
The website went on to add that this information was given to them back in May, but the sources had not yet been verified.
Their source was someone “close to Disney”.
The details of the face-to-face meeting are currently a mystery, but if it did happen it could spell good things for the future of the MCU.

Cavill certainly has a powerful fanbase that has grown exponentially since he began starring in The Witcher on Netflix.
In the fantasy epic Cavill plays the sombre yet vicious Geralt of Rivia in a journey filled with sex, monsters and magic.
Before that, the British heartthrob played Superman in the DC Comics DC Extended Universe (DCEU).
He was praised for his portrayal of Clark Kent in the 2013 film Man of Steel, which was helmed by noted director Zack Snyder.

The comic book franchise’s film series has currently been left stalled after the commercial failure of Joss Whedon’s Justice League.
Since then, Cavill’s role in the DCEU has been left up in the air, with further rumours surfacing that he has been replaced by a new actor.
With that said, now would be the perfect time for Cavill to join the ever-expanding MCU.
Not only does he have experience in playing a paragon in a comic book universe, but he also has a gigantic CV full of memorable roles, including appearances in The Man From Uncle, Mission: Impossible – Fallout, Enola Holmes, Immortals and The Count of Monte Cristo.

Cavill’s potential involvement in the MCU will be kept under wraps for some time – if it’s even true.
But his arrival could happen at any time. The next milestone in the MCU will be Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, which promises to introduce a collection of new characters.
A number of these heroes will most likely be variants (new versions of old characters) from other universes, but the arrival of new characters could happen.

With Iron Man and the original Captain America now out of the picture, the franchise needs some new people to fill the void.
Cavill’s popularity and acting prowess mean he stands a good chance of being inducted into the multi-billion dollar franchise.
However, until the rumours are confirmed, or some more information is provided, fans will simply have to wait and see if he’ll be brought into the fold in the near future.
