Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Manchester United’s manager has renewed his contract until 2024 with the club with an option for a second year.
Solskjaer, a former club striker, was initially appointed caretaker manager at Old Trafford as Jose Mourinho’s replacement in December 2018.
Solskjaer led United to 14 victories from 19 matches and was awarded a three year contract for 2019. This contract was due to end at the close of the 2019 season.
Solskjaer was the manager of United, which finished third in their Premier League league. This was his first season as a full-time coach. United was second on the table and reached the Europa League final, beating Villarreal by penalties.
Ole: United is ‘hungry to succeed’
Solskjaer spent eleven seasons playing for Manchester United and said that the club would go from strength-to-strength under his leadership.
He said, “Everyone understands the feelings I feel for this club and I am thrilled to have signed this contract.”
Manchester United is in an exciting moment. We have built a team with both youth and experienced players who are eager for success.
“I am fortunate to have an amazing coaching staff around me and they are ready for the next stage of our journey. Manchester United is determined to win the best and biggest trophies. That’s why we all strive for it. Both on the pitch and off it, we have made significant improvements and this will be continued in the future.
“I cannot wait to stand in Old Trafford with a full crowd and start this campaign.”
Ed Woodward, United executive vice chairman added that “Ole and all his team have tirelessly worked to put the foundations for long-term success at the pitch.
“The results have been more visible in recent seasons, and we look forward to watching this team grow over the coming years.”
It is particularly pleasing to see the progress made with top-level recruits and young talent from the country. They play attacking football in the finest traditions of Manchester United. Under Ole’s guidance, we feel more certain than ever that our team is heading in the right direction.
Pogba future remains uncertain
Paul Pogba is, however, “increasingly likely” to sign an extension of his contract at Manchester United, amid Paris Saint-Germain’s interest.
Pogba representatives met with United but failed to reach a solution. Reports claimed that a concrete deal was rejected by France’s midfielder.
United has to decide whether or not to let the 28-year old enter his final year on his current contract.
Paris Saint-Germain is interested in Pogba’s signing, but there have been no formal bids or contact between clubs.
Pogba can sign a contract agreement in January with a foreign team. He wants to evaluate all options and make a decision before signing what will likely be his last major contract.
Jadon Sancho sign for Utd
Manchester United signed Jadon Sancho, Borussia Dortmund’s newest player for PS73m on Friday.
After Euro 2020, Sancho completed his medical and moved to Old Trafford.
United has offered him a 5-year contract with the option to extend for an additional year. Sancho will be wearing No. 25 on his new team.
After four seasons in the Bundesliga, where he was a Dortmund player and won the German Cup last season, the 21-year old joins Premier League. He scored 50 goals in 137 games.
Sancho stated, “I will always be grateful for Dortmund for giving me an opportunity to play in first-team soccer. Although I knew I would one day return to England,”
Manchester United has been a dream come real for me and I cannot wait to play in the Premier League.
“This squad is young and exciting and together we can become something special and bring the success the fans deserve.
“I look forward to working together with the manager, his coaching staff and to developing my game.
