Imagine Metroid Prime as the Doom engine. But it’s a nightmare. That’s Vomitoreum

Vomitoreum’s lead developer says that it was “inspired by Metroid Prime” and Dark Souls. I want you to understand that these comparisons are not made out of thin air. If you are looking for something dark and difficult, this is Metroidvania in a horrorscape. It’s available now on Steam.

Vomitoreum was the subject of a successful Kickstarter earlier this year, and it’s out now on Steam and Itch.io at a price of $9.99 / PS7.19 / EUR8.19. The devs explain that you will “explore a world that has been plagued by an eldritch disease, a terrible fog that covers the land and makes its inhabitants into miserable mutants.” This terrible blight can be cured if you dig deep enough to uncover the wreckage of this world.

You can see the screenshot in this post to determine if Vomitoreum appeals to you. I am not sure, but I like it. I also love Metroidvania’s bold aesthetics.
