Soon, a third Queen Elizabeth II will begin her reign on The Crown.
Netflix has revealed Imelda Staunton’s first glimpse, which will see her take on the title of queen in The Crown’s fifth season.
The role was first played by Claire Foy in 2016. Olivia Colman followed her. Both actors stayed on for the next two seasons. Staunton was chosen when Season 5 was to end. It will continue through Season 6.
Staunton stated that “As an actor, it was a pleasure to see how Claire Foy and Olivia Colman brought some special and unique things to Peter Morgan’s scripts.” I am truly honored to have been a part of such an extraordinary creative team, and to see The Crown through its final stages.
