Which BMW is the best-selling right now?

At the moment, it seems almost impossible to find a quality and affordable BMW. To be honest, it’s hard to blame me for thinking like that. Talking about the best cheap BMW will only drive up prices and negate the purpose of this article. It’s difficult to find affordable BMWs that actually make you laugh or are any good. Let’s have a look at the remaining BMWs on the market to determine if they are still worth purchasing (I know this is ironic).

This was the reason I searched forums, car classifieds (Cars and Autotrader), Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace to find trends. Also, I wanted to find a car with all the criteria that made a good cheap BMW. This meant finding if there was a car being offered for sale regularly that was affordable and had decent mileage. It should also be fun to drive. As that is the lowest amount that will get you decently priced, my price limit was set at $5,000.

I was actually a little sad about my scouring. My first car was an E38 7 Series. The first-gen BMW Z4 and the first-gen X3 were very expensive. It is becoming too costly for younger enthusiasts to buy a lot of BMWs, which was disappointing. The E46 BMW 3 Series was the one car I could find that was affordable, fun and attractive, with a lot of mileage.

It’s as predictable a choice as they come, with BMW. The E46 3 Series is often considered to be the 3 Series model’s high-water mark for its handling/comfort balance, purity of feel, and simple good looks. It’s the go-to used BMW for almost all enthusiasts. However, it also seems to be still be the one that can be had for an affordable price.

It’s amazing that E46s can be found at this price and in decent enough condition to purchase. There are many options for sedans, coupes and wagons. There are two types of cars: rear-wheel drive, all-wheel drive. You have the option to choose which one you prefer. There are pre-LCI and post-LCI options. You also have the option to choose from smaller engines, larger engines, manuals or automatics. The choices are endless for buyers.

If you asked me to name the most affordable BMW, I would say the E46 3 Series. The E46 3 Series is affordable, simple to find parts, great to drive and easy to maintain. Without a doubt, it’s the most affordable BMW available right now.
