Selaco looks amazing. There are many great FPSs available or in development – classics such as Dusk and more modern releases such as Vomitoreum. It’s somehow running on the Doom engine and is heavily influenced by Monolith’s classic F.E.A.R. – and it’s just added that game’s iconic nailgun. A banana, too.

Selaco is an indie FPS that’s slowly been building attention from the community, and combines classical gameplay from titles like Doom and Quake along with its main inspiration, 2005’s F.E.A.R. – specifically in terms of action set-pieces, bullets that react properly to the world, setting, and awesome enemy A.I. There is no word on whether the terrifying, long-haired ghostgirl will be featured.

It is built using the GZDoom engine. This would be difficult to see if you didn’t know how imaginative fans are with it. The game looks amazing, and is clearly shown in the latest videos.

The Penetrator nailgun is F.E.A.R’s best weapon. It can be used to stick your enemies with nails or pin them against the wall. The Selaco team has added this awesome weapon to F.E.A.R. with an additional twist: it will also include alt-fire modes. We’ll be very disappointed if one of these modes doesn’t launch enemies around the room with a harpoon.

We were also serious about the banana. Grab a banana and eat it. Then, throw the skin onto the ground. The skin can be slipped on by any enemy who walks across it, making them more vulnerable. This team has an excellent sense of humor.

Selaco has yet to be released, but it will be displayed at 3D Realms’ upcoming digital event Realms Deep. This runs August 13-15. It will feature more FPS titles like the Aftershock expansion for Ion Fury or Graven. Selaco has certainly caught my attention.
