Half-Life 2 Remastered Collection was fan-made, but it is reportedly available. Is Valve “consent” valid?

This is the latest version of Half-Life 2: Update.

Valve is said to have approved Half-Life 2 Remastered Collection’s release, which is a passion-project mod that “completely revamps” this seminal shooter.

SteamDB noted that this collection is from Filip Victor. However, Tyler McVicker (thanks to PCGN) reports that Tyler McVicker reports that the remaster had “Valve’s permission”.

This is the latest version of Half-Life 2:Update, which appears to be a completely free, extensive, community-developed update. It features beautiful lighting and numerous bug fixes. There’s also a new Community Commentary mode. Anyone who has Half-Life 2 PC can download it. It contains “countless” bug fixes and is a “free standalone download”.

The mod features a “complete lighting overhaul, enhanced lighting and more detailed shadows and high Dynamic Range Lighting (HDR) as well as new particle effects, improved fog and a Community Commentary Mode with the voices of prominent Youtubers. The mod promises to keep the Half-Life 2 gameplay and visual style intact.

Half-Life 2 Remastered Collection is not yet available. SteamDB links to both an Amazon store and hub, but both currently redirect to Steam’s generic page.
