The weekend saw the creation of history in Dubai’s Coca-Cola Arena, as Social Knockout, the first ever cryptocurrency event. This event was attended by thousands, including fans of boxing, social media influencers and members of the Royal Family.
There were many other notable local and international stars in attendance such as Tai “Bam Bam”, Tuivasa (UFC Heavyweight), and Badou Jack, the boxing legend, and Prince Naseem Hamed, the Boxing Icons. KokoSwap was the primary sponsor. This cryptocurrency was used for event tickets and live streaming access. There were also other giveaways, NFTs, and prizes.
The high-profile event featured six exhibition bouts and concerts with music featuring many of the most prominent influencers and singers in the world. The event was attended by large crowds, but many others tuned in live from around the globe via broadcast, which made it unique.
The main event was won by Rashed Belhasa (UAE), who beat Anas Al Shayib, a Youtube star and fellow Jordanian. Anas began the first round by baiting Money Kicks, and then aggressively swinging using an ambitious technique that would eventually fail. Although Alshayib could move quickly, Belhasa’s relentless footwork was too much for him. He skillfully exploited the fight to the end, taking down Alshayib with powerful punches and dexterity.
It was close, but it seemed like I had the ability to block everything Anas tried at me. With more powerful strikes and counters, I won the fight. Belhasa confidently states that he was not once injured in the fight and felt he moved better and had more control over the fight.”
The co-main event saw no romance between Youtube star Adam Saleh, Tiktoker and Walid Shark. Noor Star was there to support her brother. The two influencers have been in the ring before, Adam having won more than 10 amateur matches and Walid Shark having more than four amateur victories. Both fighters had moments of dominance in the ring, and the cheers and chants were deafening from the crowd. The judges declared the fight a draw at the conclusion of round 3.
Although the beef was not settled in the ring between these rivals, Adam and Walid both showed respect for one another after the fight and agreed to a rematch as soon as they could.
Another notable fight to be mentioned in the most famous Dubai event last night was Slim AlBahar, Mido King Anibus, and Slim The Hitman, an American Youtuber. Slim proved that he is more than just a jokester, dethroning King AlBahar with a first round knockout in less than 3 minutes.
Tam Khan is the UAE’s pioneer in MMA and was also the creator of TK Fight Night. He is optimistic that this will be the next big thing and has already received offers from the UK, USA, KSA and other countries. Since last night’s event, my phone has been exploding nonstop with many possible offers and new ideas.
Tam continued to express appreciation for his hometown by saying that “I believe what we did last evening was not only historic with world’s first cryptocurrency event but also showed the world Dubai and UAE don’t require permission to host world-class events.” “This country is so wonderful to me and my family. Since I arrived in 2008, it’s been my goal to make the city the center for entertainment and combat sports in the region.
Even though the evening was filled with thrilling fights, it also featured stars from social media. A-Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, an American rapper, and Guru Randhawa (an Indian singer) both got people on their feet with unforgettable live performances. The atmosphere was unlike anything else in the region, and it was unforgettable for fans.
Tam Khan concluded the evening proudly by saying, “This was only the beginning.” The positive feedback we have received and the international interest this event has generated is very encouraging to me. Enjoy the weekend, and then we will get back to work building our brand into something greater and more.
