We saw the BMW M5 CS win against an Audi RS7 on Daniel Abt’s channel. Although the cars were quite different, the word “beating” might sound a little too soft. Daniel set out to see how the identical car performed against a slightly more powerful vehicle from his company, the ABT RS6R.
ABT Tuning is a company that modifies Audis. They have a lot of cool stuff and they’ve been doing this for over ten years. The latest model is based on the Audi RS6 Avant, RS7 and other RS monsters. As the title suggests, the ABT RS6-R model in this video is based upon the RS6 Avant. The 4.0-liter twin turbo V8 engine under the hood now produces 740 PS. Additionally, torque has increased to 920 Nm (678lbft). This is quite an improvement on the 591 horsepower and 590lbft standard cars.
The BMW M5 CS on the the other hand, has to rely on the same 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 we saw the other week against the RS7, with 635 PS and 750 Nm (553 lb-ft) of torque. Therefore, the M5 is at a bit of a disadvantage here. However, the BMW is lighter than the Audi, by 250 kilos, and that’s nothing to scoff at.
How did they stack up? Here, the Abt model was clearly favored by the weather. The quattro all wheel drive system works better in rain so it was not ideal to launch the M5 CS. The BMW managed to beat the Audi in the standing race and won the second. After two defeats, the BMW suffered another loss, but the situation was reversed in the rolling race. The M5 CS was able to perform admirably considering that the Abt RS6R-R is rated at 105 HP more.
