Airports ask Government for a revocation of ‘unnecessary Covid testing’ – UK ‘lagging’ behind Europe

Gatwick Airport has joined the call for change with Stewart Wingate (Gatwick Airport Chief Executive) calling on the Government.

Karen stated that there won’t be a sustained economic recovery until Britain changes its restrictive and costly travel policy, which has been out of sync with Europe.

“UK Passenger continue to have to undergo expensive and time-consuming PCR testing in the belief that they will be sequenced to safeguard the UK against variants of concern. But it’s clear that this isn’t the case.”

The latest data revealed that just five percent of PCR test results are sent to sequencing laboratories, putting into doubt the necessity for such tests.
