A massive Stan deal will make Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings films, DC movies, and The Big Bang Theory all available for streaming on the Australian streaming service

Australian streaming giant Stan has extended two of its major partnerships with Warner Media and Lionsgate.

The deal will see new content arrive on the platform, from blockbuster films to critically acclaimed TV shows and children’s programs, reports the AFR.

There will be 180 Hollywood movies available, including the Harry Potter series, The Lord of the Rings, the Hangover trilogy and Dunkirk.

Stan will also host films and shows from the DC catalogue, including Batman Begins, the Dark Knight, Wonder Woman, Suicide Squad, Justice League and Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice. 

The DC library features a wide selection of animated content, such as The Dark Knight Returns, Batman: Bad Blood, Batman: The Animated Series, Superman: Unbound, Superman/Batman: Apocalypse, Justice League and more.

American sitcoms The Big Bang Theory and Two and a Half Men will also be included in Stan’s ever-growing library.

Stan will also retain streaming rights to The West Wing, The O.C., The Following, Hart of Dixie, as well as Cartoon Network shows Ben 10 and The Powerpuff Girls. 

Stan’s acting Chief Executive, Martin Kugeler, said: ‘Stan’s longstanding partnership with WarnerMedia has seen us bring some of the world’s biggest film and television franchises directly into Australian living rooms.

‘We look forward to continuing to work with one of Hollywood’s most iconic studios to bring even more premium WarnerMedia content to our subscribers.’

The extension deals come as the streaming platform landscape heats up with the arrival of the ViacomCBS-owned Paramount+ last week.

There are many streaming services available in Australia, including but not limited to Binge, Disney+, Amazon Prime Video and Netflix.
