Matt Hulett is a veteran in the Seattle startup and tech scene and has been appointed CEO and President of PetMed Express. PetMed Express is a Florida-based, publicly traded online pharmacy for pets.
Hulett, 51, most recently led Rosetta Stone through back-to-back acquisitions as co-president of the language learning company, which was publicly traded prior to its October 2020 acquisition by Cambia Learning Group. Rosetta Stone was sold by Cambia to IXL Learning in March.
PetMed Express, which operates under the trade name, “1-800-PetMeds,” posted $309 million in sales and $30.6 million in profits in its 2021 fiscal year, which ended in March. In June, the company announced that Menderes Akdag, its CEO and long-standing president, would be no longer being employed by PetMed Express.
The company was founded in 1996 and had 219 employees at the time of this writing.
He has been previously an entrepreneur-in-residence at Voyager Capital and chief product officer at the HR tech company TINYpulse. ClickBank CEO, Senior Vice President in Charge of RealNetworks games division, CEO of AdXpose, president of Expedia corporate travel division.
GeekWire spoke to him that he plans on keeping his home in Seattle and working out of PetMed Express’ headquarters in Florida.
Hulett is a graduate of Washington University. His book, entitled “UNLOCK”: Five Questions for Discovering Your Business Potential, will be released in May 2022.
