Spider-Man: No Way Home Theory: What if the MCU’s original villain Doctor Strange replaces it?

Marvel fans were suspicious about Doctor Strange’s character in the Spider-Man No Way Home trailer. It appeared that the Sorcerer Supreme was acting strangely. His casting of the spell to make the world forget Peter Parker is Spider-Man looked very outlandish for him. Some fans speculate that the teaser was a disguise for Mephisto, or another variant of Doctor Strange.

WARNING! SPOILERS FOR WHAT Is …? EPISODE IV ABOVE.

Interestingly, the latest episode is of What If …?. This week, there were two Doctor Strange variations.

Imagine Doctor Strange losing his heart instead of using his hands. The power of the Dark Dimension allowed the Ancient One to split that one reality’s timeline into two.

The Sorcerer Supreme had to give up on trying to revive Christine Palmer using the Time Stone, but the other one refused.

Strange Supreme was created when the evil Doctor Strange became a demon-possessed variant.

After the bad version of him is defeated, absorbed and saved Palmer from the wreckage of her car accident, the evil one was able to rescue Palmer.

The fabric of the universe was ripped apart, and The Watcher refused to stop it.

This alternate universe ended up being destroyed by Strange Supreme, and Palmer’s death left a shock ending.

Only four episodes are left of What If …?. Perhaps this animated series is giving backstories for variants that will appear on live-action later.

After Chadwick Boseman’s death, we will never be able to see the Star-Lord. However, there is speculation that Hayley Atwell plays Captain Carter in Doctor Strange: The Multiverse of Madness.

No matter what, time travel and alternative realities are the main theme of MCU moving forwards. This means that anything is now possible.

What if …?? You can stream Spider-Man No Way Home on Disney+ right now. Doctor Strange will follow on March 25th, 2022.
