Man Utd news: Expected Team XI vs Newcastle As Solskjaer makes Cristiano Ronaldo decision

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer already confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo would be playing in Manchester United’s Premier League match against Newcastle. Although the Norwegian wasn’t forthcoming about whether CR7 would start, he said Ronaldo will be there at one point. Express Sport is backing Ronaldo to play.

Ronaldo returned to Carrington Tuesday, meaning that he had almost a week’s training in preparation for Old Trafford.

Edinson Cavani was not pictured at training on Monday, despite no indications of injury.

The fear among fans is that he might not be available to the match. With Ronaldo ready and raring for action, everything points towards Ronaldo starting the contest.

Solskjaer has given nothing away as of yet though, and he said on Friday: “He’s been having a good pre-season with Juventus, he’s played for the national team, he’s had a good week with us here.

Scott McTominay in midfield is unable to play because he has just returned from minor groin surgery.

Fred will also be expected to watch the match after FIFA banned eight Brazilian Premier League internationals for not reporting for duty for their national teams during the break.

Paul Pogba may be moved back to a deep midfield position alongside Nemanja Maatic, although Donny Van de Beek is still hopeful for minutes.

Jadon Sancho, on the attack side, could maintain his position with Mason Greenwood at the opposite flank.

Bruno Fernandes, Ronaldo and Ronaldo will be the No 10, with Bruno Fernandes expected to take the lead. He hopes to celebrate his return to goal with an assist.

After shoulder surgery in August, Marcus Rashford will not be able to resume full strength until October.

Anthony Martial may also feel that he has something to prove. Ronaldo is still in the building, but Anthony Martial could end up on the bench.

Newcastle vs Man Utd. XI: De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Maguire, Varane, Shaw; Matic, Pogba; Greenwood, Fernandes, Sancho; Ronaldo.
