Apple iPhone 13 brings portrait mode for video

Apple’s new iPhone 13 can shoot portrait mode videos with depth-of-field effects.

Apple described the new cinematic mode as anticipating when someone enters the frame and shifting focus accordingly – a technique known as “pull Focus”.

According to CEO Tim Cook, it is the only smartphone that allows users to edit these effects into their videos.

However, the majority of features in this model are incremental improvements to previous models.

A new flaw in Apple’s devices could make users’ messages vulnerable. This was the news that also overshadowed the event.

Apple has released Monday’s security patch for , a previously unknown flaw that could allow attackers to access the iMessage service by clicking on malicious links or files.

New iPhones include a quicker A15 chip and brighter displays. They also have a longer battery life and come in new colors, including red, pink, midnight starlight, and blue.

New iPhones will have 500GB storage, with the lowest storage available increasing to 128GB as opposed to 64GB in previous models.

Apple also wanted to emphasize its environmental credentials. Kaiann Drance (VP iPhone product marketing) stated that the model is “designed with environment and using many recycled materials”. The antenna lines of this new iPhone were made from upcycled plastic bottles. This was an industry first.

As buyers keep their smartphones longer, the new phone is a welcome addition. Wedbush Securities, an investment firm, estimates that 250 million iPhone owners haven’t upgraded in the past 3.5 years.

Paolo Pescatore (an analyst at PP Foresight) stated that the iPhone is still a key product and a lucrative one for Apple. “It represents a gateway into other devices, more importantly services,” he said.

While many users will consider some upgrades incremental, millions more are still waiting to get 5G. This is why the so-called “supercycle” moment still holds true.

Only the iPhone 12 and newer models have 5G connectivity.

According to IDC, Apple sold 25.9% (5G) of the handsets worldwide in the second quarter.

Marta Pinto is senior research manager for IDC. She stated: “With this new portfolio, these numbers will grow and consolidate Apple’s dominance in that space.

“Never being the first to launch a 5G smartphone paid off.”

Apple launched the iPhone 13 Mini Pro, Pro Max and Pro Max. Ms. Pinto stated that the different models show Apple’s ability to target different audiences.

Three cameras are included in the iPhone 13 Pro Max and Pro Max, and Apple describes them as “its most advanced camera system ever”.

The premium models come with a Super Retina XDR screen and ProMotion, which can deliver adaptive refresh rates up to 120Hz.

It allows smoother scrolling and animations.

An iPhone 13 mini costs PS679 while an iPhone 13 starts at PS779. The iPhone 13 Pro is priced at PS949 and the Pro Max, which costs more, starts at PS1,049.

Apple Watch Series 7

Apple has also unveiled a new Apple Watch version.

Series 7 is the first major redesign of the Apple Watch since 2018. It will also be slightly bigger.

This new screen size allows for almost half the text to be displayed on the screen and also has a keyboard that can be used to enter text. The first time it is dust-resistant.

However, production of the Apple Watch Series 7 may be delayed, reported Bloomberg. This could lead to shortages.

Apple claimed that the new iPad model will be made available later in the fall, while the virtual event also revealed today that the iPad 2 is now available starting next week.

According to CCS Insight, Apple accounts for 47% currently in the smartwatch market.

Apple Watch iOS 8 can also detect bicycles, including electric bikes.

Leo Gebbie of CCS Insight, principal analyst, stated that the Apple Watch’s latest update is a new iterative version. However, the bigger screen allows for larger virtual buttons as well as a full Qwerty keyboard, which should improve the user experience.

I expected an increase in the battery life of my Apple Watch. Smartwatch owners are clamouring for their smartwatches last longer. But Apple decided to not reduce its existing 18-hour battery. While the faster charging is welcome, it will not be practical for sleep tracking. It would be much easier to provide a battery lasting a few days.

“Despite all these worries, the Apple Watch continues its record-breaking sales and is the market leader in smartwatches.”

Updates for iPad

Apple also released a new entry-level iPad. Cook stated that iPad sales have increased by 40% over the last year.

The A13 chip will power it, offering 20% more performance than its predecessor. Apple claimed that this device was “three times faster” than its predecessor, the Chromebook.

These laptops were cheap and became very popular after the pandemic.

New iPads start at $329 (PS319), with a reduced price for schools of $299.

The new iPad mini also came with USB-C support, Apple pencil support, and no home button. Instead, you can use the lock button at the top to activate Touch ID. Prices start at PS479.
