Freddie Mercury: A new Queen pop-up adventure takes you through the epic 50 years of their journey

Queen’s 50th anniversary is something rock fans know. Queen The Greatest will open a pop up store in London’s Carnaby Street this month to celebrate 50 years of music.

From Tuesday September 28, 2018, Queen The Greatest, the doors will be open from January 2022.

Pop-up stores will offer “a selection of limited-edition music, fashion collaborations, and lifestyle products along with weekly product drops and special events.”

Each month will feature a different theme: Music, Art & Design, Magic, and visual installations which tell the story of Queen Elizabeth’s 5 centuries-long history.

The Queen The Greatest Pop Up Experience will not only take you through Queen The Greatest’s incredible history, but also offer a chance to shop.

The installations are spread over two floors. They begin at a thrift store from 1970s, where Roger and Freddie had a stall in Kensington Market.

It will take you through 1980s classic live performances, tours to 1990s record stores and finally to 2000s DVD tributes that end up in 2010s tech concepts.

Queen The Greatest released the following statement: “The brand new store was created in partnership by Bravado (Universal Music Group’s merchandise management and brand management company). It features all the trademarks of Queen The Greatest.”

The store features an exclusive apparel line, including collaborations with a variety of fashion brands such as Champion, Wrangler, and Johnny Hoxton jewellery.

Roger and Brian said on Queen The Greatest: “We are delighted to collaborate with Bravado for this project. It will be an exciting opportunity for all to visit London and enjoy.” Carnaby Street provided the ideal location for the shop to commemorate 5 decades.

Limited edition vinyl records will be available for sale at the pop-up, starting with Greatest Hits September 28.

Roger Taylor will follow this in October Music Month – the ‘A side’: Radio Gaga and the ‘B side’: I’m in Love with My Car on Oct 8th. John Deacon, on John Deacon’s ‘A side’: Spread Your Wings on October 15th.

Plus Brian May – ‘A side’: We Will Rock You / Freddie Mercury – ‘A side’: Someone To Love / ’B side: Take My Breath Away October 29.

The next step will be November Art and Design Month. This will include “showing a lineup of collaborators including Japanese designer Tokolo and a limited edition bear from Steiff. It will also allow for the first glimpse of a soon to be released pinball machine.”

The magic of five decades of Queen combined with Christmas magic is December Magic Month. You can find products such as Christmas jumpers and cards, wrap paper, accessories, and Rubix Cube.

The store will offer exclusive clothes, accessories, and gifts, as well as a selection of archive Queen performances.



Queen The Greatest is located at 57 Carnaby Street, London. It opens from 11 to 7 on Monday through Saturday and noon to 6 on Sunday.
