Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made four awful mistakes in Young Boys defeat

Sancho instead of Ronaldo

Even though United’s move to throw Lingard and hook Ronaldo backfired, given Lingard’s error, it made perfect sense.

The Portugal international had begun to wear out and the club was down to 10 members, so they were in desperate need of legs.

However, Solskjaer should have replaced Ronaldo sooner.

Although he is still an excellent finisher, the 36 year-old has lost some of his energy. He isn’t blessed with the same speed.

Jadon Sancho should have come off the pitch instead. Sancho’s speed could have caused problems for the hosts on the counter. He’d also have made a much quicker threat at their tip.
