Kate Middleton 'super impressed' by students as she tells of her ‘real passion’ on outing

The Duchess, 39, paid a visit to the Nower Hill High School in London yesterday and surprised the astonished 13-year-old pupils who were surprised to see a royal guest. The pupils, only informed of Kate’s appearance 15 minutes before her arrival, met with the Duchess who praised their “impressive” studies.

The students were learning about neuroscience and the importance of early childhood in brain development based on research from Oxford University’s department of psychiatry.

Their lessons focus on the importance of learning during the first five years of life and it later impacts the rest of that child’s future.

Middleton told the students: “Really well done. I completely found it interesting.

“It’s a real passion of mine.

Louise Voden, headteacher of the school, told People she was shocked the royal paid the pupils a visit.

She said: “I never thought she would do that!

“She was an absolute natural.

“She was really interested in what they had to say and their thoughts about the materials they had been learning about.

“She clearly feels very passionately about it.”

This topic has been an area of interest to Kate and just earlier this year the mother of three launched Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood which looks into experiences in early childhood and how it later affects “social challenges such as addiction, family breakdown, poor mental health, suicide and homelessness”.

The website explains the center’s intentions: “Her Royal Highness is committed to this crucial cause, but only by working together can we bring about positive, lasting change for generations to come.”
