Susan Anne Weatherman Martinez


Susan Anne Weatherman Martinez, 72, of Rotan, passed away peacefully with her family around her on Ash Wednesday, March 2, 2022. Memorial services will be conducted Saturday, March 12 at

2:00 pm at the Rotan First Methodist Church with Jeff Sedberry officiating. The family will visit with friends after the service and burial at the Rotan Community Center. Susan was born July 19, 1949, in Rotan,

Susan was born July 19, 1949, in Rotan, Texas. She was a fifth-generation Texan who loved Texas history and family genealogy. Susan graduated from Rotan ISD and attended University of Texas at Arlington. She raised four children and ran the family farm with her husband of 54 years, Robert X. Martinez. Susan loved to nurture others through cooking and beautiful flowers as the owner and operator of Main Street Flower Shop and Bakery for 13 years. She later enjoyed establishing the Faith In Action program and thrift shop benefitting shut-ins and those in need. She was also a rural carrier for the US Postal Service. Susan participated in numerous community organizations over the years including the Girl Scouts, Economic Development Board, and Chamber of Commerce. She dearly loved Jesus Christ and was a member of the Rotan First United Methodist Church. Susan was good at anything she tried, especially cooking, baking, gardening, and genealogy. She wrote a novel and also compiled a cookbook. Her greatest joy was encouraging her family and she loved taking adventures with them. Susan will continue to live in the hearts of her family and friends that love her so very much.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence Weatherman and Frances Green Weatherman, her brother, Larry Weatherman and granddaughter, Kera Danielle Martin.

Susan is survived by her husband, Robert X. Martinez, her son, Josh Martinez, daughter Jackie Martin and son-in-law, Kenny Martin of Snyder, daughter, Kristi Immitt and son-in-law, Jeff Immitt of Plano, and daughter, Lynne Jenkins and son-inlaw Brian Jenkins of Abilene, sister, Nancy Hartsfield, grandchildren, Katie Pickrell and husband Josh, Ryne Bennett, Ella Bennett, Sofia Immitt, Andrew Martinez, Faith Jenkins, Jeral Jenkins, Jacob Jenkins, and great-grandchildren, Keraleigh Pickrell and Brynleigh Pickrell.
