Women’s Tennis Falls 4-0 at Princeton in Ivy Opener – University of Pennsylvania Athletics


PRINCETON, N.J. – The University of Pennsylvania women’s tennis team began Ivy play on Saturday at #47 Princeton. Playing to clinch, the Quakers were shut out on Saturday, 4-0. With the loss Penn falls to 10-8 on the season.

Penn dropped the doubles point as Gavriella Smith and Saige Roshkoff dropped their doubles match 6-2. The Tigers then clinched the doubles point as Eileen Wang and Sabine Rutlauka lost 6-4.  Marija Curnic and Iuliia Bryzgalova were leading 5-4 when their flight was suspended.
 
The Tigers made quick work of Penn as all three points were clinched in straight sets. Penn battled in the flights that went unfinished as Gavriella Smith and Amanda Chan were in the third set when the match was clinched by the home team.

The Quakers are back on the court next weekend when they make the trip to Brown (April 9), and Yale (April 10).
