Cristiano Ronaldo and his partner Georgina Rodriguez have been flooded with messages of support after the couple announced the death of their newborn twin son.
Manchester United star Cristiano, 37, and his girlfriend Georgina, 28, shared a joint statement to announce the tragic passing of their newborn son, but added the birth of their baby girl “gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope”.
In the statement, which the football legend posted on his social media pages, the couple announced: “It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that out baby boy passed away.
“It is the greatest pain that any parents can feel. Only the birth of our baby girl gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness.”

Following the tragic news, family, fans and fellow celebrities have flooded social media with supportive messages and messages of condolence.
Cristiano’s sister Katia Aveiro shared a photo of the couple on her Instagram page and wrote: “I love you and my heart is with you over there. May God take care of you and strengthen your path more and more.
“Our angel is already on father’s lap. And our little girl is there firm and strong and full of health and is going to show us with every day that only love matters.”
Meanwhile, footballer Marcus Rashford wrote on Twitter: “Thoughts are with you and Georgina brother I’m so sorry”.
While Manchester City’s official account tweeted: “Everyone at Manchester City sends our deepest condolences to you and Georgina.”
And Cristiano’s team Manchester United penned: “Your pain is our pain, @Cristiano Sending love and strength to you and the family at this time.”
Meanwhile Piers Morgan retweeted Cristiano and Georgina’s statement and said it was “desperately sad news”. He added in a comment on Cristiano’s Instagram page: “Heartbreaking news. My deepest condolences to you and all your family”.
Usain Bolt commented with a trio of praying hands emojis to share his respects.
Love Island star Dr Alex George also commented on Cristiano’s post with: “So sad sending love” and Jacqueline Jossa commented with a string of broken heart emojis.
Portugal’s football team’s official Instagram account also shared a comment, which translates from Portuguese to English as: “A lot of strength, captain”.
Cristiano and Georgina announced they were expecting twins in October 2021.
The couple share daughter Alana, three, together. Meanwhile Cristiano is also a dad to son Cristiano Jr, 11, and twins Eva and Mateo, four.
