Millie Gibson, who played Kelly Neelan on Coronation Street, was announced as Doctor Who’s new companion during BBC Children In Need on Friday. Millie will make her debut as Ruby Sunday when the 15th Time Lord, Ncuti Gatwa, takes the helm of the Tardis. The 18-year-old actress has described the BBC role as a “gift” and a “dream come true”.
Speaking of her new role, Millie said: “Whilst still being in total disbelief, I am beyond honoured to be cast as the Doctor’s companion.
“It is a gift of a role, and a dream come true, and I will do everything to try and fill the boots the fellow companions have travelled in before me.
“And what better way to do that than being by the fabulous Ncuti Gatwa’s side, I just can’t wait to get started.”
Her new co-star and next Time Lord, Ncuti added: “Millie just is the companion.
