Complete Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 MCPR-300 Breakdown

Sniper rifles have been a staple of the first-person shooting genre for decades, but no franchise holds them in such high regard as Call of Duty. Over the last two decades, Call of Duty has prided itself on having some of the best-feeling sniper rifles in all of gaming. From the immensely satisfying Barret .50 Cal to the infamous Kar98k, CoD‘s snipers always sound and feel great, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2‘s MCPR-300 is no exception.

A sniper rifle with a fast rate of fire and an absurdly high damage output, the MCPR-300 packs a mean punch and is still considered to be one of, if not the best sniper rifle in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, at least when compared to the rest in its designated category. While the MCPR-300 can still be dangerous with no upgrades, finding the right attachments makes it one of the most lethal weapons in the game.

The Best Modern Warfare 2 MCPR-300 Attachments and Builds

Modern Warfare 2 MCPR 300

While Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2‘s MCPR-300 will always be a one-hit kill when it comes to headshots, the right build can make it a one-shit kill anywhere. To make the most effective long-range MCPR-300 class, players first need to equip the 22″ OMX-456 barrel. Increasing the bullet velocity and damage range while also increasing hip fire accuracy and recoil control, this barrel is a pretty broken attachment, and when paired with .300 Mag High Velocity ammunition, players should be getting one-shot kills regardless of where the bullet lands.

To counteract the natural bulkiness of the MCPR-300, players may also want to equip the FSS Merc Stock, as it increases the aim down sight speed of the weapon, crouch movement speed, and sprint speed, making the weapon a lot more mobile overall. This can be paired effectively with the Cronen Cheetah Grip which also increases the aim down sight speed along with the rifle’s sprint-to-fire speed. To increase the MCPR-300’s mobility even further, players should also equip the 5-Round Mag for their magazine, as this greatly increases the speed at which this weapon can be aimed and fired, making quick-scoping a little more viable. However, this does mean that players will only have five shots before reloading, so only the most confident Modern Warfare 2 snipers should be equipping this attachment.

For those who plan on setting up shop across some of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2‘s larger maps, maybe some of the Ground War or Invasion arenas, then they may want to trade the MCPR-300’s mobility for accuracy. The 22″ OMX barrel should still work well for longer range maps, as does the high-velocity ammunition, but players may want to also equip the Bruen Agent 90 muzzle to further increase the rifle’s damage range and bullet velocity stats. A laser sight can also help to make aiming a little easier at longer range, though the MCPR-300’s default sight should give players all the need from they get-go.

To make the MCPR-300 even more deadly, players can now utilize Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2‘s new weapon tuning system. When players have reached max level on a weapon, they then have access to weapon tuning. Players can head into the Gunsmith, go to each individual attachment, and re-tune it to their liking. Using a slider scale, players can optimize the weapon’s statistics, choosing which traits the attachment favors. For instance, with the 22″ OMX barrel, players have the option to tune the weapon either to increase damage range or aim down sight speed. For those planning on using the MCPR-300 at longer ranges, it’s a good idea to tune its attachments to favor damage range and bullet velocity.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is currently available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
