A 59-year-old man has died at a car park at a shopping centre in Reading, with locals and motorists advised to avoid the area. Thames Valley Police said they currently dealing with an “incident” at The Oracle shopping centre car park. His death is being treated as unexplained but not suspicious. The coroner will prepare a file.
His next of kin have been made aware of what has happened and are being offered support.
The force warned there has been some “disruption” in the area and has asked people to avoid the area.
A Thames Valley Police spokesperson said: “We are currently dealing with an incident at The Oracle shopping centre car park in Reading.
“Sadly, a 59-year-old man has died. His next of kin have been made aware and are being offered support. Our thoughts are with them.
“The man’s death is being treated as unexplained but not suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
“There has been some disruption in the area while we deal with the incident so thank you for your patience.
“Please avoid the area as the disruption will continue.”
Emergency services were understood to have been called at around 1.20pm, according to a report from local media outlet BerkshireLive.
