Danni Menzies, 33, has exclusively told Express.co.uk that she woke up one morning to discover a “massive lump” on her face and could barely open her “eyes properly”. In a state of panic, the property presenter began to cry and pleaded with Channel 4 show bosses to halt filming amid the “horrible” experience.
I started crying at one point saying, ‘I don’t want to do this’
Danni explained: “I had a really horrible thing recently where I woke up one morning and had a massive lump on my face, and I couldn’t open one of my eyes properly.
“I had a cyst or something on my face and it came out of nowhere. It was massive, it was like a golf ball next to my nose and I went and got antibiotics… they gave me the wrong antibiotics so that was fantastic.
“I started crying at one point saying, ‘I don’t want to do this.’ So the show got back to the office and I got a message from the boss going, ‘Danni, why have you got the back of your head to the camera?’”
In a bid to conceal the cyst, the star had covered her face with hair and attempted to hide her face.

She added: “It was horrible. I managed to get to the doctors and get the right antibiotics, but it took about three weeks, it was awful.”
Away from the cameras, Danni said she often finds it difficult to spend time with her colleagues from A Place In The Sun.
The property expert added that she is good friends with Scarlette Douglas, 32.
Danni revealed: “Scarlette and I are quite good friends. We hang out and catch up whenever we can.

“We’re a similar sort of age, similar sort of life situation, so we’re good friends.
“Then with the others it’s tough, we don’t get to see them very much, because you’re always going off in other directions.”
However, there is no bad blood between the stars as Danni divulged that they all get on when they finally can meet up.
She continued: “I bumped into Laura Hamilton for the first time on a plane and I’ve met Jasmine Harman at a few events. We all get on great. Everyone seems really nice.”

A Place In The Sun will celebrate its 21st birthday this month, with Danni joining the programme back in 2016 following a successful career in broadcasting.
The TV host has been filming new episodes of the popular series across Europe under strict social distancing regulations amid the coronavirus pandemic.
She explained: “We obviously have to keep our distance now and whenever we’re not filming we have to have our masks on, so it means keeping your makeup on is much more difficult.”
Filming episodes with the new measures in place has meant that it has prolonged shoots.
“Everything takes a bit longer and is a bit trickier. But everyone is working really hard to make it happen, but it does make it difficult,” she said.
“I can’t go in as many rooms, or stay in them for as long. We have got all these protocols in place with Channel 4 that we have to follow.”
However, despite the initial difficulties, Danni has insisted that viewers will be unable to tell the difference from old episodes and will still achieve the same feeling of escapism.
A Place In The Sun airs today at 3pm on Channel 4.
